Black Community Skills Project
What is on Offer?
A FREE 8 week training course running from 10am to 4pm 3 days per week. The course incorporates PC skills and employability to increase individuals' desirability within the labour market. The course is open to individuals from a Black and Minority Ethnic background between the ages of 18-50.
Training
The training consists of a combination of classroom based learning and practical experience within an unpaid work placement for 3-4 weeks.
Classroom Based Learning
An opportunity to learn multiple subjects that will considerably improve chances of gaining employment. For example:
- Job search skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of the job market and skills shortages.
- How to suceed with interviews.
- First Aid.
- Information Technology.
- Motivation and confidence.
Work Placement
Over the 3-4 weeks period within a company in your chosen field, you will gain practical experience and recieve a reference as proof of your capability.
Support and Guidance
Support and guidance will be given on a regular basis consisting of:
Visit to Volunteer Centre
- Child care support.
- £2.50 per day (travel and subsistence allowance).
- A one off £50 placement allowance.
- £50 at completion of the course.
- An agreed learning plan.
- Continous progress assessment.
- Access to job information.
- Chance to speak to potential employers.
- Opportunity for further study or training.
