The Black Community Development Project's main strength is that it was not set up by the mainstream service providers, but was instead started by the local mainly indigenous community, and the Project still enjoys strong support from the local community.
BCDP is governed by a Board of Trustee of 12 local residents from the Greater Pilton Area of which 8 people are from the BME community and 3 from the indigenous community and an Advisior from the City of Edinburgh Council- Community Learning and Development.
